The Friends of Bangor Garth Pier (FBGP) is an Unincorporated Association with the charitable objectives of supporting the preservation, protection, restoration and improvement of the structure and buildings of historical and architectural merit at Bangor Garth Pier and the improved engagement of the public in understanding the history and heritage of the Pier and its location in the Menai Strait.

- WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
We collect and use your personal information only to enable us to administer the legitimate charitable purposes associated with the management of FBGP. This policy sets out how we use your personal data, what data we collect, and the legal basis for its use and outlines your rights in respect of your personal data. We collect personal data you provide us with when joining us as a member, joining us as a volunteer, making a donation, subscribing to an event, placing an order or communicating with us in any form including via our website.

- MEMBERSHIP FINANCIAL DETAILS STORED:-
Surname, Initial or Forename, Transaction Amount, Bank cheque numbers where member makes a payment by cheque. Other means of payment e.g. Bank Standing Order, Paypal, Cash, Date Banked. Payment Type: Membership Subscriptions, Donations Payment status – Fully Paid Up, Awaiting Payment, Underpaid Advised, Unpaid Advised, Removed, Resigned
- INFORMATION ARISING FROM FBGP EVENTS
The activities and involvement of both members and non-members in events organised by FBGP may result in some personal data being created. Only those details necessary to administer the event will be kept. Typically, these will be your name, address, telephone number and email address if you provide them. For events involving a third party, such as a coach trip, we will limit the information provided to the third party to names only. If payment is associated with the event, these details will be held only by the Society’s Hon.Treasurer.
A number of FBGP’s activities may be carried out by sub-groups. Organisers of sub-groups must be FBGP trustees and wherever possible all members of sub-groups should also be members. If you volunteer as part of a sub-group, it may be necessary for the organisers to keep a separate list in order for the group to be managed effectively. However, these details will be limited to only those necessary to administer the sub-group and will typically only consist of the name, address, telephone number and email address where provided by the sub-group member, plus any additional information required to comply with relevant legislation, e.g. Health & Safety declarations. No details are shared with third parties.
- SOCIAL MEDIA
We use social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to provide news and information for our supporters. If you contribute to any of our social media accounts, users need to be aware of the terms, conditions and policies of the platform provider.
- SENSITIVE PERSONAL DATA
Any equal opportunities data you may provide is collected and stored anonymously. It will be used to ensure that we are encouraging and managing diversity and offer equal opportunities to a diverse a pool of talent as possible. This information may be used anonymously to indicate to potential funders that we are non-discriminatory in our activities.

- We will never sell your personal data. We do not share personal data except in the extremely limited situations described above and only with the permission, in writing by email or letter, of the person involved.
- We communicate with our members via email, social media, postal services, our website, our Newsletter, and by printed leaflets You can decide at any time whether you wish to receive these messages and can decide the method in which we send them to you. - FUNDRAISING AND MARKETING
As a charity, all our funding comes from membership fees, individual donations, commission on product sales, and event charges. We may, therefore, send communications to members and supporters from time to time with details about activities associated with raising funds for the charity.
Our regular Newsletter is mailed out as a benefit to all members who have supplied us with their email address and by post to members who do not wish to receive them via email. - DATA SECURITY
Access to the data we hold is limited to only those Trustees for whom the information is necessary to discharge their duties on behalf of FBGP.
Membership Records are stored securely by the Secretary, Membership Secretary, Treasurer, and the Volunteer Co-ordinator if you are volunteering. Online payments are made via the STRIPE system which has its own extensive security protection, and which does not share details such as credit card numbers or bank account details with us.
We only store information for as long as it is required to discharge the administration of the charity. We continually review what information we hold and delete what is no longer required in line with current legislation.
- DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS
You have legal rights associated with the way in which we use your personal data. These are listed below.
You have the right to confirmation as to whether or not we have your personal data and, if we do, to obtain a copy of the personal information we hold (this is known as a subject access request)
You have the right to have your data erased (though this will not apply where it is necessary for us to continue to use the data for a lawful reason). We will need this request in writing.
